Japan’s Cat Island!

Aoshima Island is a small, picturesque island located in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is also known as “Cat Island” due to its large population of feral cats that significantly outnumber human residents. This unique and adorable feature has made Aoshima Island a popular tourist destination, especially for cat lovers from around the world.

The cats on the island are believed to have been brought here decades ago to help control the local mouse population. Over time, the feline population grew, and the cats have become an integral part of the island’s charm and appeal. Visitors are attracted to the opportunity to interact with and observe the cats roaming freely across the island.

There are no cars and only about 50 people left living on the island.
